Play
As always its a simple thought that takes me down a rabbit hole. The idea of play - or rather just doing. So simple yet essential. A concept that is lost in the humdrum of day to day existence to a huge majority of us. We forget the simple act of play.
Think about it. Do we engage in anything without an over arching sense of having to accomplish something as adults ( i will stretch it - lets say as a human that can speak and comprehend) A babe acts devoid of any repulsion and or sense of achieve some grand end. We loose that faculty as we get older. The act is forgotten and we chance the grand end essentially forgetting that the act itself is the reward. It’s not about the trophy, the completed project, or even the perfect form. It’s about the sheer, unadulterated experience of the moment.
McKinnon, I think nailed it. Play isn't a means to an end; it is the end. It is a state of deep engagement, a kind of flow where the doing becomes everything. The peddling on a cycle , and not the road that one travels to some destination. The brushstroke on the canvas, not the finished masterpiece. The clumsy dance, not the polished performance. The aimless tinkering, not the perfected invention.
Freedom defines it - it is a subversive act in today’s day and age; to simply exist. Existence being the act. It is in my opinion the most basic of human desires - pure, unadulterated interaction with the world around us. Joy might be an end result and maybe this thought is one worth playing with.

A beautiful message a reminder to let fear flow freely, not fight it. Like a child, act with pure intent, unburdened by society’s expectations. In that raw, fearless doing lies true magic and deep appreciation.
