Vanish

I have heard that one feels at times that one could just vanish - no record of existence, no record of who , what, when , where , why and how. It’s a random thought that generally has no bearing to one’s existence. Almost everyone feels this at some time and the ones that give in tend to actually vanish. I wonder why they give in. It’s stupid from my point of view. The summary of an experience should be shared not extinguished.

The reasons for the so called extinguishing one hears are even more ludicrous. It also makes me believe that mental fortitude is something that is not talked about. The strength provided by friends, well wishers, family, bath mates is so overlooked; it is not trivial. The ability to have someone from the above mentioned list to talk to is a blessing. The ones that do vanish tend to be in two groups. The first; the ones that felt unappreciated. They are the ones that actually had something to contribute, but did not or could not. It’s unfortunate that many individuals that could have added to the human existence decided otherwise; the ones that understood their contribution often are heard saying “how I wish …”. The second group are actually more in need of help than what one could believe. They are the ones that don’t normally speak in a social setting, the ones that are shy, the ones that light up when you appreciate them. the funny thing about this is; the attitude that both groups display is a direct result of the bias that the company they keep has.  The simple act of acknowledging existence would be enough.

My normal “behaviour” could be interpreted as though I am unappreciative of the company that I am in. Nothing could be further from the truth. That said I also know that I have wilfully not acknowledged the existence of a few people in certain company and I wish I could turn the clock back on that. One does not realise at the time about how a simple action of acknowledgement could play out in the future. It is a moral choice that has a huge impact.
