Process
The value of having a process is lost to many. Most tend to overlook the importance of having a pattern for day to day tasks, goals, basically anything that needs to be accomplished. When one talks about process,it is normally in the context of work , business etc. Processes are all around us and inside of us. We follow some because we make the effort, some we follow automatically as it is the construct of our family, society etc and then there are those that we tend to forget about. The ones we forget about are the great majority. Nature runs on processes and it makes sense for humans to utilise the idea of processes everywhere in life.
In simple terms a process is like a time table. Something all of us followed when we were in school. The time table took the task of completion of some syllabus and broke it down into bite sizes that allowed one to learn at a pace that was comfortable. Any process does the same thing. It breaks down the tasks needed for accomplishment of a set goal into easy to do steps. The process also allows one to setup what are known as control points on each sub task. These control points help the follower of the process to check progress and make suitable corrections. These control points are known as Risk and the corrective actions taken to when the risk comes true is known as mitigation by people who design processes for a living.
Processes help because you can predict the outcome. They help the person following the process to better themselves with each run of the process. The repetition is what results in success. Napoleon Hill identified the secret laws of success and each law is essentially a process that was followed repetitively by the successful person. There is no shortcut for the great majority. There are those who however appear to follow no process at all. The ones who live a carefree life and are ready for anything all the time. If you look closer these folks also follow a process. Their process is quite different from the general norm. Then there are those rebels that are very different and really do not follow any process at all. These are the ones that can understand a subject in a single reading of necessary literature; they are the ones with absolutely original thought; these are the dreamers; the ones that help humanity progress and no amount of cajoling would get them to follow the processes that the rest of humanity follows.
Following processes is not easy for sure, one tends to fall out of sync very often. It gets boring. The ones that realise and understand that they have fallen out of the process make corrections tend to be the ones that succeed. Making a process is easy following it is quite a different matter.
